Checker Plate

Checker plate (also called chequer plate, tread plate or floor plate) has a raised diamond pattern that gives grip underfoot and under tyres. We stock aluminium and mild steel checker plate in full 2400 x 1200mm sheets, ready for pickup from our Sydney workshop or delivery.

Aluminium vs steel checker plate

  • Aluminium checker plate (1.6mm, 2mm and 3mm) is light, won't rust and is easy to cut and fold. It's popular for ute trays, toolboxes, trailer floors, ramps and wall protection.
  • Steel checker plate (3mm HA250) is stronger and cheaper per sheet, and can be welded, painted or galvanised. It's ideal for stair treads, walkways, platforms and machinery covers.
